WIRE MACHINE - Cutting speed went down drastically

Mon, 05/07/2018 - 04:44
Hello,

I have Fanuc wire machine (Tape cut - model 1). It is the old one, but still in a good shape :)

English is not my native language, and I am not a person with a technical background I hope you will not have a bad understanding.

In the last period, cutting speed went down more than 2x. I am not able to figure out what is the problem. I have a feeling when a machine is in the process of cutting that wire is sticking to the piece.

First I was thinking the water is the problem but after I changed the complete system problem repeats.

Machine works well, I always have correct measurements after work is complete, but work is very slow.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? What should I check?

In the attachment, I have one image. Can someone answer the questions below once he takes a look at the image?

What is correct name of these two switches, and where I can order them (e-commerce site would be the best option)?

Could they cause the problem why machining is slow?

Can I take them out and clean?

How to identify die casting vs CNC?

Wed, 05/02/2018 - 07:59
Hello! How do you know if a product was made using CNC machining or die casting? For example, a phone back cover. The Google Pixel 2 has an aluminum chassis. How can I tell if that was made using CNC or die casting? Any input would be appreciated!

HAAS tool setter arm is loose

Tue, 05/01/2018 - 11:29
I not sure why but the arm on my 1999 SL20 lathe has suddenly become loose. that is to say there is a lot of wobble at the pivot where the arm swings down into place. I am hoping to get an idea of what I am getting into before I start tearing it apart. Has anyone had experience with this or know what may need to be done? With it the way it is now my lathe man can be off by over .200" which makes it less than worthless. so he is doing it the old fashioned way with a piece of paper and touching off then taking a light cut to verify. Slow but still efective

first CNC router, where should my zero position be?

Mon, 04/30/2018 - 04:32
I have homing switches and I'm unsure if my zero should be right after they are done doing there homing or if the zero is supposed to be the center of my build volume?

Miter saw or portable table saw?

Fri, 04/27/2018 - 02:50
Hello everyone, great forums here and your advice has helped a lot in the past!

I am a beginner who has made a few small projects and I'm considering buying either a miter saw or portable table saw: I use our wood-shop at work to cut a lot of my wood for my projects and would like to be able to do that at home. Been using the chop saw for cutting 1x2s, 2x4s. I have rarely used the table saw and have resorted to my circular saw and straight edge to cut small boards. Anyway, I do have limited space and thought a portable table saw may be more versatile because I can cut flat boards as well as cut 2x4s? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Any body need Haas CNC help?

Thu, 04/26/2018 - 12:04
I need help with our 1999 HAAS SL 20 tool setter it has become loose where the arm pivots down into place and is basically worthless for setting tools right now. I have been searching online for something regarding this model and can find nothing. I have found that newer models have some adjustments that can be made via a couple of set screws but ours does not look the same as those. Nor does it have the set screws for adjusting unless they are inside the housing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kitamura Mycenter 1 Help Please

Tue, 04/24/2018 - 00:15
Hello all,

I have a 1999 Kitamura Mycenter 1 mill with the Yasnac i80.control. My issue is this, I have searched all over the internet can't figure this out. When the machine is in Auto Mode running a program sometimes after a tool change the machine will stop, and not continue the program flashing MS on the screen. Always happens after the tool has changed. I have to reset the program call up the last N number and hit cycle start. Can anyone tell me what could cause this? When running multiple tool programs this causes issue with production. Thank you.

Fanuc Tape Drill Mate Model T

Sun, 04/22/2018 - 23:00
I am looking for help/advise in getting 3 old Fanuc Tape Drill Mate Model T cnc's up and running. I purchased these machines in running condition for a song, and they have been in storage for about 3 years.

I have 220v 3p power via a digital phase converter to each machine, a fresh set of batteries installed, and the paper printouts of the parameters.

How do I go about installing in the parameters? I am expecting to hand type them in, as I do not have a pc hooked up to them yet.

FYI... I have a Haas VF-1 running on the the same phase converter and cutting chips with zero issues, so I feel I should be able to get these Robo's running successfully
with some help.

Thanks!

John

Issues with NC Studio and Wireless WHB 02 controller

Thu, 04/19/2018 - 07:59
Hello
I am new here, so if this is the wrong thread to post on I apologize.
Now, I have a Victor 1212 CNC router and it came bundled with a program "VIC Engraver Control System V 5.4.48" which is pretty much NC Studio (not sure why it has a different name).
A couple of weeks ago we bought the wireless controller WHB 02 to use it with the router but so far I have been unsuccesful in making it work.
I install the drivers and according to the instructions, the driver icon on the task bar will remain greyed out until I load NC Studio, at that point it will change the color to red.
But so far I have loaded NC Studio and it is still greyed out.
I am thinking now it might be an incompatibility issue with my "NC Studio" because the txt file that came with the drivers says that it supports "NC Studio version 8.214 and 5.453" but I am not sure which version is older.
Anyone had the same issue or know what might be the problem?
Also, if anyone know where I can get a newer version of NC Studio please do tell, I tried contacting weihong (the manufacturer of the PC card) and so far no answer.
Thank you

CNC Offload

Thu, 04/19/2018 - 04:00
After running a CNC for a couple of years, I can see the benefit of an offload conveyor setup (I don't need the onload feature). I've already talked to my machine company and they cannot retrofit. They said it would be too involved at this point and I don't really want to start over with a new machine as I really like how this one handles. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of a company that could help me do something like this to an existing machine? I would love to integrate vacuum as well but realize I would most likely still have to manually blow the spoil board between cycles.

Thanks in advance!
